Hello and welcome to Rootschat!  :)
You have probably posted in the wrong section as a first post, but that's ok. A kind moderator should move it for you.
You know for sure your father was born in Milton Ernest, or is that what you have been told? If you give us some more detail about him, we should be able to locate him and his family for you.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

Milton Ernest, in Bedfordshire, was a parish within the Registration District of Bedford.

So, the only Woodhams birth in Bedford RD near 1916 was:

March qtr 1917
Bedford district     vol 3b, page 425

Woodhams, Roland A       Mother's Maiden Name: Ratcliffe

Is this him?
If you can confirm my findings (or deny them!), then we can work from there.

BTW I used FreeBMD(.org.uk) to find this info.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

If Roland is correct, then there is this marriage:

December qtr 1914
Bedford Registration District     vol 3b, page 380

Woodhams, Jesse
Ratcliffe, Emily
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Doh! I should have checked the reg district. I only looked at the map, and saw Wellingborough.

Thanks that was such a buzz .Yes Roland Arthur is correct  & he was born 21/11/1916.
I understand  his father was Jessie & we did not know anything about his mother (not even her name )
Can you give me some links to look up (if possible ) Just to follow their deaths  etc & to see if they are related to the graves in the churchyard .(Arthur Phillip I think was one )I did find a Thomas Jessie in a list that went to 1901 .As you can see I am new at this so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks again . :)

We get information like this from a site called FreeBMD. http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

This will give you a year, and a quarter, for different events. The place will be the registration district, not the actual place the event took place.

I think you're going to need that marriage certificate for Jesse and Emily?
That will give you the couples ages (unless it says "of full age"?!), and their father's names.

Why do I say this?

Well, on the 1911 and 1901 censuses, the only Jesse Woodhams I can see, in Milton Ernest, was born in 1845! ;)
If he is the same person, he would have been 72 years of age when Roland was born!

Using the information I gave you, from FreeBMD, you can order a Marriage Certificate here:
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

The cost is £9.25, including postage anywhere in the world.
