Hi All,

Looking for living relatives from partnership  of Edward Grindrod & Fanny Taylor 1891 Census for North Tawton Devon.

I am a living relative of harry/henry Taylor born approx. 1886 Launceston, Cornwall. there was also,
Hetty Taylor born approx. 1884 Batley
Jessie Taylor born approx. 1888 Okehampton
Kate Taylor born  approx. 1891 North Tawton
Mary Taylor/Grindrod born 1895 Buckfastliegh.

I am trying to find as much family history of Fanny & Edward as possible.

Many thanks

How much DO you know? No-one would want to duplicate any of the research you have already done. And assuming that you have already asked all other known living relatives for all their info....

Do you know the spouses/children of Harry/Henry's siblings? Did they use the name Grindrod or Taylor? Do you know when Edward Grindrod died & did he leave a will? Ditto Fanny Taylor.

Have you tried:
Looking on ancestry member trees & Genes Reunited for any of the names & contacting the owners
Looking on freebmd for likely marriages of Harry's siblings, then children of these marriages
Ditto marriages of these children & their children
Looking on the 1939 register for any of these children/grandchildren to find out where they lived

Josey

ADDED: I see from this post
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=561943.0
that the name of one of the children Hetty was actually Harriet Ellen Bessie 1883; these initials should make her easy to find on the freebmd indexes.

Seeking: RC baptism Philip Murray Feb ish 1814 ? nr Chatham Kent.

Brum ( and others replying to this topic)

For privacy reasons we do not permit the revealing of the identity of living persons on RootsChat.

People can however contact you by Personal Message (PM) if they have any names to pass onto you.

Also, you can get general help on here on how to go about your search (again, as long as the names of living people are not given).

All the best in your search,

Trystan

Not sure if you have access to to any paid sites but there are a few trees online that include this family

From them you can find that

Harriett E B married Robert BERRY in 1910 and died in 1962 (Jun Wincanton Somerset Q2 V7cP359); although not listed in the tree she's included in, Harriett had at least three sons in Robert J. F. 1911, 1915 & 1917 according to a quick search of the records - 100 year rule does not permit naming all

Jessie married Robert William AGGETT in 1907 and died in 1945 - she had at least 5 children all now deceased but living family members are within one ancestry tree

Kate died in 1892 aged 1

Mary married Edward Ernest ROSE in 1921 and died in 1983; Mary had at least two children in 1923 & 1925 according to a quick search of the records - 100 year rule does not permit naming them

 ??? What's this 100 year rule?

RootsChat has a policy of not naming living, or potentially living, people, but there's no rule? ;D

The GRO Indexes are freely available for anyone to search, right up to 2005.

Didn't mean to confuse anyone.  In Ireland there is a 100 year rule on access to certain information (included in the Statistics Act 1993 and a big bone of contention for the access of census and other genealogy information) and is referred to as a guide for naming individuals.  Although people live to be older than 100 "as a rule" you can expect someone born more than 100 years ago to be no longer living.

Therefore, if you are sure a person is deceased you can refer to him/her by name, if you are not and know that he/she would be aged 100 or more you can reasonably assume that he/she is deceased and refer to him/her by name. Otherwise presume that people are living on sites such as RootsChat where there is policy of not naming the living.
