FindMyPast...disappointing Leicestershire records on Friday

Got quite excited when I saw Leicestershire records released.Disappointed that only about five places done and only baptisms and burials.
Some people will be lucky

I have limited experience with FindMyPast, but I've found similar with many of the records I have looked for. The record set sounds promising, but when you look further into what they actually have, it often falls far short of expectations. :-\

BUT if you read the entry for the Leicestershire Records released last Friday under "Findmypast Fridays" , it tells you exactly what they are:

Transcriptions of 4 parishes (named), 2000 entries and dates of 1683-1769 - baptisms
Transcriptions of 7 parishes (named), 3000 entries and dates of 1752-1835 - burials

And the transcriber is named - Julie Gerring

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

That's not very many when you think how many places there are.Nothing for Leicester at all.

Leicestershire & Rutland FHS have a load of publications available  :) :)  New out is a download of Welford Road Cemetery information.

I too was guilty of not reading the fine print and so was disappointed.

It would seem that digital copies of the original Leicestershire parish registers are going online at FindMyPast - see https://twitter.com/recordoffice/status/666235784496873472. (you don't need a twitter account to read the post)

I'm just hoping it includes the Rutland records as well as they don't get a mention but are held by Leicestshire Records Office.
