Moving to Bromley in the late 1800's early 1900's
« on: Thursday 24 December 15 15:40 GMT (UK) »
Any ideas why so many people from Suffolk were migrating to Bromley in 18/1900's  What was there to offer in the way of jobs?
I have been researching several families and they all have one or more family members moving to Bromley short term.
Thanks
Y

Thanks for replies, it is Bromley, Kent and by Bow no idea what work, it is that I had noticed quite a few men were moving from Suffolk to Bromley Kent, and by Bow , but I  could not find what work they were then doing.  More to Bromley Kent.

I'm not sure that there is any connection, as the two places would have been very different in the late 1800s. Bromley, Kent would still have been quite rural, so a lot of farms, whereas Bromley by Bow is in the East End of London, so quite built up even then.

Can you give a link to that thread please keyboard,  as yekepa seem to have quite a few threads going? Perhaps this one needs to be merged or closed.
