Derek Jones born 1935 died circa 1959 Connah's Quay - Flint

When I viewed a household record in the 1939 registers I discovered my Great Aunt had a son.  He was Derek Jones born 30 Jan 1935 probably Flintshire, Wales. His record was open so I knew he was deceased some time ago.  Speaking with a family member who is in her 90s.  She recalls he was killed while riding his bike home from his mother’s house in Connah’s Quay to his home in Flint.  She thought he was about 24 at the time (circa 1959). Derek was married with a young daughter (names unknown).   I have searched freebmd but cannot find a death to match.  His parents married in 1924 and he was an only child which begs the possibility he was adopted because I cannot find a birth entry which is a fit either.  There is one possibility where the mother of a Derek Jones has a maiden name of Williams.  My G aunt’s mother married a Williams after my Great Aunt was born but her father was definitely a Jones. She was born a Jones and married as a Jones so would she have used Williams as her maiden on a birth?  Since I have Derek's birth date from the register I don't intend purchasing a birth certificate.  Are there any newspapers online where I might find information about the accident or would there have been an inquest and if so where would I access the details?    Any ideas or help will be appreciated.

For starters, FreeBMD have mistranscribed his birth registration place as Holyhead, when the original index clearly states Holywell!

Thank you, yes that was the entry I was referring to. It's just the "Williams" I'm not sure about, why Williams and not Jones, unless someone other than the mother registered the birth.  If it was the father he may have assumed the surname.

So, are you saying that both his parents were Jones?
I.E. a Jones married a Jones?

Yes, Albertress Jones married Isaac Jones.  Seems quite common in my family.

Could it be that his first name wasn't, in fact, Derek (or even Derrick)?
