Glendermott Catholic graveyard
« on: Tuesday 29 December 15 02:03 GMT (UK) »
Hi, trying to find grave and names of the paternal grandparents and mother of Dr Barnewall Peter White, c 1810- 1885, of St Columbs, Londonderry. In his 1885 will he mentioned having a granite slab and iron railing put round their graves in Glendermott graveyard. They were a catholic family, and his father was wealthy Londonderry merchant Thomas White. I think the grandfathers Christian name was Peter but can't be sure, and his mother died before  1825/1826 when Thomas remarried Frances Lucinda Mitchell.
Any suggestions as to how I might find this information greatly appreciated. I live in New Zealand so can't visit the graveyard in person.
Thank you,
Liz

The cemetery that you are looking for might actually be at Ardmore, this is where most of the Catholics from Glendermott were buried and still are today.
In the Ardmore area there are three cemeteries within half a mile of each other. This cemetery is known locally as the "new" cemetery and is located directly behind St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, but just west along Rushall Road (west) is an even newer cemetery.
The "Old" cemetery is located to the front of the church and across the road (east)
