If he returned to England for the war, do you not think it is possible that he returned there after Ann died?

Anything is possible with this family I have found, but have no trace of him anywhere, like he just vanished into thin air....

I have an idea though that he died here in South Africa, but that will be hard to trace as it doesn't look as if he left any sort of Estate, or it hasn't made the archives on line yet.

This family seem to be a brickwall and lots of skeletons ;D ;D

I think that our ancestors sometimes deliberately did obscure things just to give us something to do :o

Possibly his estate has just not made it onto familysearch yet.  I shall just have to do more arbitration!

In this case they did just that, there's mysterious name changes, a sister that was likely your mother, and a grandmother that spent most of her life making sure that the family was disjointed, I can now see why.............. ::) ::)

but those secrets have a way of coming out in the end. ;)

I have seen the name transcribed as Ramsey instead of Rumsey, that's how I found the baptism for Anna Sophia

I also did a search for Ramsey - knowing how some writing can be confusing, but no luck there.

Hopefully 2016 will bring forth a lot more information   ;)
