Robert and Jessie Smith

Looking for help on Smiths again !!

All I have is from 1911 census
Robert Smith age 27 born Risby
Jessie Smith age 31 born Risby      (would like Jessies maiden name)
Dorothy Smith b Risby age 6 months

I know for sure that there were at least two other children
Reginald John Born b 11/7/1901 d Sept. 1971.
Kenneth -   no details. except he married Eadie ? c. 1960 in St Giles, Risby
but can find no trace of them.

1960 marriage to Edith M gives name as Kenneth R Smith.

Possible 1915 birth   
March qtr 1915 
Kenneth R    Smith (mothers maiden name Smith)   
Bury St.E.    4a   1801

Have you found Reginald in 1901

The 1911 will tell you how many years married so have you looked for a marriage on freebmd around that time?   www.freebmd.org.uk

If no marriage found - a copy of Dorothy's birth cert will give mothers maiden name

Robert would only have been 17yrs old when he was born - not impossible I know but the fact he is not with them on the 1911 makes me wonder if you have the right family

Freebmd has only one Reginald John Smith birth reg in Suffolk covering a July birth and he has different parents on the 1911 entry

Have you tried a free search on the 1939 register

Putting in the date of birth you quoted for Reginald J Smith brings this up

Thedwastre R.D.   Suffolk

also in property
Beauty Smith   born c1874
Owen Smith   born c1871
Frank E Smith   born c1914

Do they relate to your Smith's

Thank you both I must admit I thought at age 17 I had got wrong parents. The situation was that Kenneth and Reginald lived with their Father, when their Father died and Kenneth married Reginald went to live with Dorothy who was his sister. ( checked this out with relative of family)
As you say to be a Father at 17 was not impossible.

Have you looked at the actual 1911 image re: years married?

Have you investigated the 1906 marriage - details on freebmd?   

As mentioned in my earlier reply - the only birth in Suffolk for Reginald links to different parents in 1911

Yes, that is why it has become so frustrating. I think a trip to Records office may be in order,
