India - The Major Family

I have a big brick wall with my Anglo India great grandfather.  He stayed behind after Partition although his wife and children emigrated to England.  No one in the family would talk about him and I cannot find out when he died.  Any ideas?
So when an Ancestry hint came up, I was really pleased and clicked on it immediately.  However, it has answered no questions about him but has thrown up many questions about his family tree.  There are a couple of errors on the public member tree to which I was directed but I cannot prove or discount any of the other new additions to my own research.  Have tried all usual places and have previously done well at chipping away.  Not this time. Any information about the following Indian born people would be greatly appreciated:
Robert Clement Major b 1817
Herber Wason Major, married 1891 and any siblings.  I had him but this tree lists sisters Annie, Maude and Jane with no details or sources.
Robert Major b. Around 1897, apparently married to Iris Theodora Decurs and father to Seymour Egerton and Keith Ashley.

On the UK 1881 Census there is a Robert C MAJOR, wife Mary E, and daughters Jane and Mary - both born in the West Indies.

Given the use of the name Wason further along your tree, this could well be useful.
