Tynan parish ancestors
« on: Tuesday 05 January 16 23:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I have a tombstone on a family plot in Maryland, USA with an ancestor from Tynan, Parish Armagh for Elizabeth Kelly (married name- don't have the maiden name.  Married to Patrick Kelly born 1819).  She would have been born around 1824 and they were both catholic.  I've searched the catholic parish registers with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pat

Do you mean you can't find the marriage in the register? Weddings usually take place in the bride's church so they may have been married in an adjoining parish or even further away.
Have you traced any children in the U.S.? American certificates usually list names of both parents so if you can find marriage and death records for children then they might list Elizabeth's maiden name (presuming that the informant knew it).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I would like to find the marriage information and her birth information.  I already have all the kids birth and death records and nothing about her maiden name shows up.
Her tombstone says that she was born in Tynan, County Armagh.

I will try adjoining parishes for the marriage.

Thanks for your help.
