 Annie McHugh was Hugh's first wife.

Hi, Can anyone find a record of Annie (McHugh) Gallagher's death between 1930 and 1940? The 1940 census says Hugh's 2nd wife Sarah (Flanagan) Gallagher was living in the family home in 1935.This may or may not be accurate but if it is right,then Annie died between 1930 and 1935.I have looked for a record without success.Also if anyone can find a record of Hugh's (2nd) marriage to Sarah I would be very grateful. Again, I have searched for a record without success.

You can check the Connecticut death & marriage indexes here - http://libguides.ctstatelibrary.org/hg/indexes  There are 2 Anna Gallaghers who died in Bridgeport in that time frame, one in 1930 and one in 1931.   

Hugh Gallagher & Sarah Flanagan married 24 Jan. 1934 in Bridgeport.

I found an Anna M. Gallagher who died in 1931.  She was married to a John E. and was buried in Stratford, which is right next to Bridgeport.  I think she may be the 1931 Bridgeport death, and the 26 Oct. 1930 one is more likely yours.  It was late enough in the year that she'd still be on the 1930 census, but early enough that it might make sense that she wasn't listed in the 1931 city directory.
