« on: Monday 11 January 16 15:26 GMT (UK) »
Web sites concerned with this subject are missing:-
The Fox Inn , Cross Keys Inn & Eagle Inn all of which were in Regent Street.
Can anyone help?
Thanks, Toby.

The Cross Keys was before my time but I have had a pint or two in the Fox and the Eagle in my youth.

Thanks Youngtug. Can you confirm that the Fox was on the corner of Cromwell Rd./ Regent street and that the Eagle was  on the other side of Regent St and a bit closer to the Town Hall? T

Thanks KGarrad. However the matter of Cross Keys is confusing for there was one of that name in Old Town and I think that was the one that moved and became Baker Street. T

The Cross Keys was at the top of Regent street according to what I have read, nearer the town hall than the Riflemans. Long gone.
I think the Fox was on the same side has Marks & Spencer, between Cromwell street and  Havelock street if I remember correctly. The Eagle was the opposite side of the road, slightly nearer Marks & Spencer. I am unclear in my memory about which side either was. [don't blame the drink]
I can remember having a drink with one of the jazz bands that was going on to play at Marks & Spencer in the one on the opposite side of the road to Marks & Spencer.
I am sure Swindon Library Flickr site has a photo of one of them.

I googled "old photos regent street swindon" and skimmed through the several sites it delivered.

Spotted at least one of The Eagle - dated 1911. Also the Riflemans

Was the Eagle next to "Dolcis" shoes?
