Esther Barnes
« on: Wednesday 13 January 16 15:57 GMT (UK) »
Would anyone come across an Esther Barnes who I'm told owned land around Ely and used to ride around in a buggy pulled by 2 white horses. I do have Barnes ancestors from Cambs and Lincs but have not heard of Esther before. Shes linked to an old family "story" which I've puzzled over for many years and probably will never solve. Probably we are talking of around the early 1800's. Sorry to be vague but I've not much to go on apart from the earliest date of birth of my confirmed Barnes ancestor.  ???

Have you considered getting in touch with Norfolk Records Office and asking them if they have any records of land owners in Ely?

That's a good idea so thanks. I cant think why it didn't occur to me as I've previous visited and written to the Cambridgeshire one which is linked to this story.
