Hi, from the parish register of Peasmarsh I have a baptism of Ann Frenk on 12 January 1812 to John & Ann Frenk.
I believe that this is the Ann Franks who married William Austin in Sedlescombe on 5 November 1831 and after a period of settlement in Sussex, they were in Deptford, Kent from at least 1841 onwards where she died in 1892. I don't need any further info on her descendants or on William Austin but I am trying to trace her origins.
I can't find evidence of any further Frenk baptisms but have come across a John & Ann Franks (both born about 1791, he in Battle and her in Ewhurst) in the 1841 (HO107 Piece 1105 Book 7 Folio 43) & 1851 census (HO107 Piece 1619 Folio 326). The births of children to this couple are between 1825 and 1835 in Sedlescombe, Sussex but this leaves a gap of approx. 14 years between Ann's baptism and her possible siblings.
John dies between 1851 & 1861 but following his widow Ann Franks forward in 1861 (RG9 Piece 08 Folio 169 Page 11) has her as mother with son Henry who has appeared on earlier census' with her and in 1871 (RG10 Piece 1046 Folio 41 Page 5) as mother to Edward & Bessy Croft.
There is a marriage of an Edward Croft to a Betsy Franks in Salehurst, Sussex on 19 November 1850 (I can't find them in 1851) which implies that Betsy/Bessy is a daughter of Ann Franks. This puts Betsy/Bessy's birthdate around 1814 which would tie in with Ann in 1811. She could of course be Elizabeth rather than Betsey/Bessy on records.
Is there any more evidence available which would tie this Franks' family together?
They are quite distinct from the John & Ann Franks family of Worth, Sussex.
Hoping someone can help tying this together or confirming that I have made an incorrect leap of faith.
Regards, Pheno
