Thomas GRAY and family
« on: Friday 15 January 16 06:12 GMT (UK) »
Thomas Gray m Eliza Jane Skewes 1846 in Kea parish. Looks like all boys born to this couple, Thomas 1849, William 1850 (both born in Swansea, Wales) they return to Cornwall and are there 1851 census. 3 more males born John, Samuel Skewes Gray, James H. and they are  in 1861 census, no parents though as Aunt Ann is their housekeeper, with grandparents living next door. Found Eliza Jane's death  and burial in 1860.  1871 census show only Samuel, grandson living with grandparents and aunt.

Have been trying to find more about John, Samuel and James H(who may have died age 2??) Been using opc database, free bmd and the usual FindMyPast etc, no joy so far.  Any advice please. Of course they may have emigrated as Thomas SNR's sisters came to Australia and one bro. Francis to USA.
regards

Have you checked later censuses for them?  You haven't given any birthyears/birthplaces for the 3 born after 1851

Where was father Thomas born and when?  Have you looked for him on later censuses?

Have you checked any of the US censuses for them?

Have you checked Australian records for marriages/deaths?

Thanks for info.
I had found Samuel Skewes info.  John was christened 4 June 1854, Samuel Henry was buried 13 Sept.1861 (aged 2) all local areas to Chacewater,Baldhu.

Father Thomas christened 15 Apr, 1827 in Kenwyn parish (his parents Thomas and Ann (nee Dennis) Gray.  Also have his 2 brothers to chase, William (christened 1823 Kenwyn parish)  and John (chr. 1825 Kenwyn parish)

Yes, I will check the US census, thanks for the link, and later census, also do a complete search of all Australian indexes available - that's where I was heading, just needed  a direction.
Regards
