Harold Wallis of Brooklyn
« on: Monday 18 January 16 16:21 GMT (UK) »
Hello.  I'm looking for any post 1922 information on Harold Wallis (born Wolis in UK 1901), who is listed in the USA 1930 census, living in Brooklyn with his wife Rose, and children (*) and Arnold.  I have information from the UK, and his arrival at Ellis Island in 1922. Thanks.

Here they are in 1940, mistranscribed as Nallis - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KQS4-HNX

Do you know if their children are deceased?  If not, we will have to remove their names, as they may still be living.

On www.fultonhistory.com, there is a newspaper article about Harold and his brothers getting together for a reunion in 1947.  If you search for the exact phrase "six wallis brothers", it should come up.

It looks like this may be the death for son Arnold:  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JBFG-4Z6  His Social Security number was issued in New York.  There are various articles on www.fultonhistory.com that mention him playing minor league baseball.  His statistics are here - http://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=wallis001arn

There is an obit for Harold here - https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/43136771/  If you scroll to the bottom, you can sort of read it without paying.

This appears to be Rose's entry on the Social Security death index - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JR99-143  Her Social Security application indicates her surname might have changed to Shaw circa 1976, so maybe she remarried.

Rootschatters - you are wonderful!  Very many thanks for this information and links, lots of gaps are now filled.  I've just returned from an afternoon in the library where I found Harold's family in the 1940 census on Ancestry with the name transcribed as Wallis, no wonder I couldn't find it on FamilySearch.  Thanks for nudge re children - I didn't know if either child was still living.
