What other information are you looking for - you have the date & place of birth also the parents' names...

You may be able to find a baptism which will give you sponsors' names which will indicate possible other family members. If the family were RC the parish registers are available to browse at http://registers.nli.ie/

Seeking: RC baptism Philip Murray Feb ish 1814 ? nr Chatham Kent.

Thanks for the lead josey, managed to locate the baptism but can't  make out the signatures and as the witnesses may have come from the workhouse they may not be family anyway.

As the civil registration of births began in 1863 is there any way a birth certificate from 1859 could be located?cheers

a birth cert is a civil record - so no, the only option is a church record, i.e. baptism

Hi,
Like Sinann I am a bit confused. However in the workhouse religious services were held in the dining room for each religion but at different times. each religion had a local priest or minister appointed to the workhouse so I assume any baptism would have been held there and recorded in the workhouse records.

I think in most cases recorded in the parish the priest was based in
