Wrenbury and Audlem christenings
« on: Friday 22 January 16 09:54 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I'm hoping that someone may be able to help me with a puzzle. I have found two christenings for James Irish, both dated 8 July 1714, both with the father named John Irish, one the PR's say of Cool Lane, Audlem, the other of Newhall, Wrenbury.

Are they christenings for the same child? I would be most grateful for any comments, I live in Sussex and so I'm not familiar with the area.

Crossing my fingers that someone may be able to sort me out.   Kind regards, Brenda    :-\

Hi Brenda,
I think that Coole Lane was were they lived at the time.
Coole Lane was in the parish of Newhall which was a township in the parishes of Wrenbury and Audlem.
So you have the baptism being recorded in both Audlem and Wrenbury parish registers.

If you Google Coole Lane you will see some nice images of it.

Do you know about this?
http://cgi.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/
You will find some siblings for James on there.
Click on database then select Audlem for the parish and surname in the box.
Added, Yes I do think it's the same child :)

Rolnora can you please give me a quick easy guide on how to read the CPRDB as I find it really confusing with the data.  It says you should print off the rules but it runs to many pages and I only really want to look up 2 baptisms at this point.  Is it complete do you know?

Hi,
As far as I know the parishes that have been transcribed are complete up to 1871 but there are still more to go.
The website is a bit cumbersome to use at first but easy after a couple of goes.
Click on Database which is to the left of the first page.
Choose event type and then click on birth, marriage or death.
Select the parish you need from the drop down box, enter surname then submit
You should then get a page of your chosen surnames.
The date has to be read from the right so a date 5751127 would read as 27 Nov 1575.
Click on the circle to the left of the date and then the box with the three dots in it, the record should then come up for you.
Come back if you get stuck. :)
Good luck with it.  ;)
