Thanks guys. Back home from visiting first Grandchild, 2weeks old!

The birth I have is Dec quarter 1848 Chichester which means Bosham.. So the baptism sounds good vronlady.

Spoke to Uncle he always thought Agnes from London.Looking good for George Terry as father.
Lots to digest and look at.

Thank you all x

Hello have been reading your log, I think I have the same Agness as you, she might be my 2nd great-aunt.

Have you done any more research I have just started on my Maternal side.   Samuel, her brother, I believe if I have the correct Agness, is my great-grandfather.

Look forward to chatting

Hi Wattlegreen,

I have not done much research on Agness .  From what I have  from census 1871 and 1881 she did have a half brother Samuel  Matthews born around 1861.  In the family we knew her as Agness Terry which fits with previous replies.  Her mother Margaret  was  widow of George Terry and married Thomas Matthews and Agness took his name.

Samuel had a sister Mary Jane b. 1860 who died  leaving 3 young children, Mary's  husband did not take the children but sister Agness brought them up with her six girls. There is another sister  Anne/Annie b. 1857 as yet I know nothing about her or Samuel.

So, I think we are related.  Agness is  mother of my paternal  Grandmother (Margaret Alice Jupp).

I have a photo of Agness and husband Edward Jupp, if you are interested will post it here.

Jane :)
