Charlotte Mackerell and Family

I'm still reading up on the McKrells but Charlotte's obituary is worrying me so I need to do more checking on her children (think there should be far more) and want to make sure some of the descendants are actually now deceased before I post information.

Bit of a scare after reading Charlotte's obituary but am now happy that there was a mistake which was making things more difficult to find. Now, let's start with the obituary...

Binghamton Press, 1924: Mrs. Charlotte McKrell, 74 years old, died Thursday night at 10:45 o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. Ira N. Blodgett, 33 Park avenue. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Blodgett and Miss Rachael McKrell, a son John McKrell; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter. Burial will be in Floral Park cemetery.

Leon John McKrell (19 June 1894-1952) m,1 (1922- divorced 1929) Leona Mackey. They had a daughter in 1924 who was the subject of a custody/divorce battle between her parents. He m.2 Emma (Barton) Kreidler and had another daughter.

Much of the above information, and lots more which I can't post here, was found in online newspapers. Just go to Fulton newspaper site and search for 'mackrell binghamton' and almost 300 articles are shown about the family. Quite a few on Leon's custody and divorce but there's lots of obituaries and news stories which fill in the family tree.

Is there a death certificate for Charlotte?

It gives me a glimmer of hope that Charlottes mother Rose Ellen Smyth/Seawright/McIntyre can be found

Charlotte's death certificate won't be online be would have to be ordered from N.Y. state archives- in Albany from memory. The information on parents, etc. will depend on knowledge of informant.

familysearch has the record of a Rosan MacIntyre's death aged 80 in 1897 in Magherafelt:

Very promising indeed!

Magherafelt is the right area. He first husband was born around 1815 and first child we know of around 1838. Of course not having any marriage or baptism records makes it difficult.

1876-51 = 1825. Possible but she would have been only 14 when she had her first child.
1897 - 80 = 1817. More likely.

Rose is referred to as Rose and Rosanna and now this name variant. Some refer to her as Ellen so perhaps her mother was Rose as well. She is referred to as Ellen in her husbands fathers will. That Im still working out.

Potentially Rose has more kids with her new husband as she was around 40 (guess) at the time of her second marriage

I just bought the image of the 1897 death and it says she died in Creagh and the witness to the death was James MacIntyre widower. Im assuming this was her husband and not a son so this would rule that being the right Rosan out as her husband was John.

The second was in Glasaugh, Derry. Eliot McIntyre was present at death.
