1841. Wording in remarks: on criminal record.
« on: Wednesday 27 January 16 02:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Could anyone please help in deciphering the first word/words on the first and third lines.
It is part of a criminal record listed on the Home Office Register of Criminal Petitions in the "Remarks" column, dated 1841.

My interest is in the convict in the third line down.
The rest of the sentence reads;
 ?? Recommended Parkhurst. 41. 29. Parkhurst 2 February 1841. (This refers to him being transferred from St Albans to Parkhurst Prison in 1841).

Regards,
John.

I agree with Bookbox - the first letter is upper case Q in some styles of handwriting.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Yes, that could well be "Qr" and "Sess"
