William Goodall.Why can't I find him?

William Goodall was born 15 May 1847 at Canal St Derby. The son of William Goodall and his wife Mary.He appears on the census in 1851 at home with his parents. In 1861 there is a possible sighting of him in Aston on Trent where he was a servant. In 1871 he is back with his parents as engine fitter & turner.
This is the last time I can find him, but in his father's will dated February 1896 he receives 5 pounds and his wife Eliza receives 30.pounds to her own use.
William had 3 older siblings one of whom died in 1865, the other two received various pieces of furniture and the residue of the estate went to them following the death of William seniors 2nd wife.
This seems a somewhat curious division of an estate which was only moderate 117 odd pounds.

CaroleW Thank you for your reply, I hadn't seen that entry,it seemed a possibility but after further checking I'm not sure. A William & Sarah appear in all subsequent census, William born Darley Abbey, & Sarah Swanwick, if I didn't know the exact place of William's birth in Derby I'd be less likely to discard,but Darley Abbey is a stretch and as far as I can see the family never lived there,
now back to census to see if I can find William born Darley Abbey before 1881.

Found him in 1871 - parents Thomas & Hannah   RG9 Piece 2496 Folio 73 Page 2 so that rules him out
