Elizabeth (1859) married an Evan Jones from Abergele, pretty sure now she was a Williams. She was my mum's great grandmother and the person of most interest to her.

Hi,

The 1841 census for Bryntirion, Llangeinwen only shows Hugh (Senior) with Hugh and Margaret, so it seems Hugh's wife must have died prior to that date. Ancestry has transcribed the surname as Punchard

There is a marriage of his other daughter Emma to an Owen Owens (occupation Baker) in Llanbeblig, Caernarvon on 17 Dec 1840 who are the grandson Robert Owen(s) parents. The copy marriage certificate and family tree for Emma are on Ancestry.

I can't see the birth of Hugh nor Emma in Liverpool  but there is a possible birth for Margaret on familysearch.org for 21 April 1825 with parents Hugh and Anne.

It may be coincidence but there is the death of an Anne Prichard who died age 37 on 3 Sept 1836 - could this possibly be Hugh's wife?

Alan

Hi,

In case you were wondering - the death I mentioned of Anne was in the parish of Amlwch.

I have also found the deaths of Hugh's sister Emma Owen on 14/6/1899 age 78 at Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog and of Margaret Pritchard age 72 on 6 April 1895 at Church Terrace Llanddaniel-fab.

Looking further at Owen Williams and Elizabeth Williams, parents of Elizabeth (1859) etc, they were living at Pen Bryn Dona, Llanddona in the 1851 census, before their marriage:

William Williams, head, 66, farmer, b. Llanynghenedl
Martha Williams, wife, 45, b. Llanallgo
Elizabeth Williams, granddaughter (described as grandwoman), 18, House Serv., b. Llanddona
John Williams, grandson, 8, Bangor.
Owen Williams, Miller Serv., b. Pentraeth (his age looks like 35, it is transcribed by Ancestry as 2, I think 25 is closer to being correct, judging from later censuses and his age at death.)

Owen Williams died 6 Oct 1887, age 62, at Penbryn Dona, miller. Informant Hugh Williams, son.

Elizabeth is also living with her grandparents at Penbryn Dona in the 1841 census.

I think I have found Elizabeth's family. There is a baptism for an Elizabeth, dau of Hugh Williams and Elizabeth, farmer of Hafod y Rhyg at Llanddona parish Church on 24 Aug 1834.
Her siblings were baptised there as follows (all Hugh Williams & Elizabeth, Hafod y Rhyg):
Mary 25 Dec 1830; Anne 21 Feb 1836; Catherine 15 Oct 1837; William 7 Apr 1839; John 27 Sep 1840; Ellen 5 Oct 1842, Hugh 15 Sep 1844.

This family with their older children can be seen in the 1841 census at Hafod y Rhyg, Llanddona (on the next page from Pen Bryn Dona).
I can find some deaths registered at Hafod y Rhyg, spelt variously:
Hugh Williams, 78, 22 Nov 1885, farmer. Informant William Williams, son.
Elizabeth Williams, 81, 8 May 1892, widow of farmer Hugh Williams. Informant Hugh Williams, son.
John Williams, 37, 22 May 1878, joiner. Informant Hugh Williams, father.
Hannah Williams, 64, 25 Sep 1910, daughter of farmer Hugh Williams. Informant Hugh Jones.

I can't find the marriage between Hugh Williams and Elizabeth Williams.

I'll see what else I can find about Owen Williams (father of Elizabeth b. 1859).

Owen Williams was the son of Owen Williams, miller of Pentraeth and his wife Ann (Jones). He was baptised at Pentraeth church, as were some of his siblings:

Owen, 12 May 1826, son of Owen & Ann Williams, Orsedd, Miller.
William, 9 May 1824, son of Owen & Ann Williams, Orsedd, Miller.
Robert, 9 May 1828, son of Owen & Anne Williams, Orsedd, Miller.
Ann, 25 Dec 1830, dau. of Owen & Ann Williams, Cefn Hir, Miller.

In the 1841 census, at Wind Mill, Pentraeth (actually Wint Mill) there are also two other siblings - Joseph (7) and Jane (15, but it looks as if originally it was 18).
Joseph was christened at the Elim CM Chapel, Pentraeth on 27 Jul 1833, Anne's maiden name is shown as Jones. (Ancestry & FamilySearch).

Ann Williams died aged 51 on 9 Jan 1845 at Pentraeth, wife of miller Owen Williams, who was the informant.
Perhaps this is the registration of Owen Williams' death - on 11 Feb 1856, aged 66, at Union Mill, Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog, miller. Informant Joseph Williams.

Thank you so much.

I've been adding all these extra williams's, owens, pritchards, on family tree on ancestry.com and getting very confused at times !

Any news on Hugh P (1785-1862) and family originating in Amlwch ?

I found a Hugh P in various Liverpool trade directories around 1828-1837 a biscuit and ship's bread maker with a shop at 1 New Quay or 22 Bath Street Liverpool (essentially the same address I think) but couldn't find his home address (unless he lived over the shop which is possible I suppose)

Hello,
I have just strayed here from your Lancashire post.
Do you have Hugh snr's  probate details?

Heywood

Added: just reread this. I have referred to Hugh snr but now think you mean the one born 1831 whereas I mean the one born 1785 !
