I seem to have traced my 4GG Grandfather, James Young b 1769, to Innerwick, East Lothian Scotland. Up until this point, I was unaware of any connection to Scotland. I am now finding a number of Young's from the same area. my 3GG Grandfather, another James was born in 1807 at Great Lumley, Co Durham, which is where his father was married to an Ann Watson in October 1796. I believe that Innerwick, is a very tiny place, and would like to know if a Rootschat member can tell me more about the history of the place and it would be wonderful, if they had any information, on the Young family from there. A bit speculative, but if you do not ask......

Hi,

I did a search on LDS Family Search for "James Young" from "Innerwick, East Lothian", and got quite a lot of stuff that you may have already.
Click on following link, http://www.rootschat.com/links/01h0l/.

You could maybe try some more searches dropping christian name, to get all the "Young's" in Innerwick.

Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.

Hello  :) My 3ggrandfather Francis Sutherland who was a hynd/farm servant at Thurston Farm Innerwick was married to Helen Young (irregular marriage later sustained as married persons). They were only married for six years. She died in 1812. Her parents were Thomas Young (recorded on marriage record ) born 1763 Prestonpans and Euphemia Gray born 8 January 1752 in Saltoun East Lothian. Francis and Helen had 3 recorded births Euphemia born 1807 Spott, David born 1809 Innerwick and Thomas born 1812 Innerwick. My3ggrandfather later married my 3ggrandmother Marion (May) Anderson in Innerwick in 1816. Witness to the wedding was John Young, whom I believe was the brother of Francis' first wife Helen.
