Robinson of ardmore, armagh
« on: Saturday 06 February 16 18:18 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone related to or has information about the following family:

Robert Robinson (father)
Margaret Robinson (mother)

Children:
John
James
Mary Catherine
Mary Agnes (my ggrandmother, not sure if it's the same person as Mary Catherine)
Annie
Joseph
Thomas Arthur
Sarah Beatrice
William Albert
Alfred Harold (died age 9)
Gretta
Gerald Johnston
Maurice or Morris
Walter

I know that some of them died in infancy. Some emigrated to America. I have their birth certificates and the birth certificate + marriage certificate of Margaret and Robert.

Keep me posted, thanks!

Very difficult to help without any idea of dates for the family. Can you fill in more details of what you already know so that we can post more information or suggest where you can search next.

Ah, sorry about that. I missed the most important thing!

Robert Robinson (father) born 1851, Death date:   18 Nov 1932
Margaret Robinson, nee Gilchrist (mother) Born 1861 Death date: 27 May 1925

Margarets father was James Gilchrist
Roberts parents I believe was George and Mary Robinson.

They were married on: 04-Sep-1879

Robert and Margaret Children:
John, born 1881
James, born 7 Nov 1882
Mary Catherine, born 27 Jun 1884
Mary Agnes (my ggrandmother, not sure if it's the same person as Mary Catherine)
Annie, born 1887
Joseph, born 1888
Thomas Arthur, born 1890
Sarah Beatrice, born 1892
William Albert, born 1894
Alfred Harold (died age 9), born 26 Jul 1895
Gretta, born 1898
Gerald Johnston, 1900
Maurice or Morris, 1904
Walter

I know some of the brothers went to America, but unfortunately I don't know any more about that.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate any response

Thanks for all the information, really appreciate it. Do you have any advice on searching further back than 1800, or is it just impossible?

I think Gerald Johnston Robinson's middle name is clue that his paternal grandmother might have been Mary Johnson, daughter of Quakers Robert and Sarah of Castleraw in Kilmore Parish. Robert died in 1864 and left a will naming a daughter as Mary Robinson. There's a record in the Armagh Diocese marriage bonds index for a George Robinson and Mary Johnston in 1841 that seems like a good fit.

I do have a marriage announcement for Robert Robinson and Margaret Gilchrist from the Belfast Morning News 8 Sep 1879:

Sept 4, in Portadown Wesleyan Church, by the Rev Mr McGaghie, Robert Robinson, Ardmore House, Co Armagh, to Maggie, daughter of James Gilchrist, Ballyorgan, Co Down.
