Parents and siblings brick wall

Hi

can anyone help me find the parents and siblings of a direct relative, John Gibson born c1784 possibly in Kneesal Nottinghamshire.

He married Hannah Moody in 1808 at St Bartholomew Church Kneesall.

They had children who;s baptism records all show John and Hannah as parents
John 1815
Mary 1812
Francis 1817
Jane 1820

1841 census shows them living in Kneesal - Hannah was a nurse living in a different address.
1851 census shows his birth place as Broughton, but I visited the archives and looked for a record of his birth in the parish records and could find none.

I am struggling to confirm where he was born, and who his parents are, Any ideas?

1861 census shows his birth place as BOUGHTON, much more likely to be correct as it is so close by.

Have you checked Boughton, Ollerton, Laxton etc. all the near by parishes.

Was Hannah from Laxton?

Yes Hannah was from Laxton.

No i did not check other parish records - I live in cheshire and so only had a short time to look. I also have not been able to verify his DoD - since there are two deaths bin Nottingham with birthdate in 188 - one 1870 and the other 1875 - both John Gibson. Very confusing!

I have through marriage Moodys from Laxton.

His burial at Kneesall on 18/8/1863 gives age as 83 i.e. bc.1780.

Boughton parish records are on family search and just one couple - Thomas and Mary Gibson - were baptising children there in the relevant period:

Elizabeth 25/6/1772
Mary 12/9/1776
Jane 5/1/1780
Thomas 1/2/1784
James 28/11/1790, bur.9/1/1791

Possibly there should be a John in there somewhere - perhaps some of original pages not readable or he was simply missed.   At least this confirms there was a family of Gibson living there then.

I wonder if in fact Jane is a mistranscription for John in the Boughton PR's ?

This may be a very basic question but having just spent over an hour trying to replicate your findings, could you tell me how you filtered for Boughton parish records to be able to tell that only one family was having children christened around that time.

I have looked at the 1861 census record for John, and again it shows Boughton as his birth district - so looks like that is right. Also shows his age as 80, so his birth year is 1779/80.
