Alfred Coward 1796-1864
« on: Sunday 07 February 16 00:10 GMT (UK) »
I am researching Alfred Coward born in Gillingham in 1796 who served in the Royal Wagon Train until 1833. I'd like to find out as to when and where he enlisted, plus any other information regarding Alfred's service in this regiment. Many thanks in advance.

Service record basically says he enlisted 8 Aug.1815, served 17yrs 258 days (had spent 2 years 4 months in France).  Discharged 8/5/1833.  Described as 'uniformly good, zealous and praiseworthy.   When discharged was aged 36 years, 5'11", brown hair, hazle eyes, fair complexion.  By Trade a Sawyer.
