This is similar to your Boyd-McCaw marriage query. What religion were they? if Catholic then registration of marriages didn't start until 1864. If non-Catholic, or Registry Office, marriage then it should be in the civil registration index and I don't see either marriage there.

There doesn't seem to be a marriage on Roots Ireland either.
In addition, because Galbraith (or variant) sounds Scottish to me - I checked Scottish marriages -- nothing there either.

Are these names correct? What information do you have have please, to suggest this couple married? A baptism of a child maybe?
(Sorry about all the questions!)
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

Yes it is the sister to Mary. I too have been on Roots Ireland and couldn't find it.  I don't have a birth, there are two other children Jane, and John believed to be in Antrim,  I have the marriage of Jane to James Clarke in 1866, and have basted this marriage around that.
The information I have was found in family possessions.  church if Ireland.

If the marriage (and that other one) aren't in the civil registration index then it might be that the dates are earlier than 1845, did not take place in Ireland or that you have the names down incorrectly.

... and 2 of us have failed to find such a marriage in Ireland or Scotland. So, what are you basing this on? have you found them in census records/ death records? births of children?

Hi again,

Have you by any chance found the deaths of these 2 people?

I confess I haven't looked - but if you do find the deaths it may help re ages and the possible area in which they lived at that point. (It would also help to know that there was an Ellen Galbraith.)

Hi heath

As I am sure you have found since starting researching the more you know the more it helps!

To help you in your queries the more we know the better we can search.

The information that you have found in family possessions is great to have and is obviously for the BOYD family.

So far we are aware that there are siblings Mary (possibly married to William McCaw), Ellen (possibly married to John GALBRAITH), John and Jane who was definitely married to James CLARKE in 1866.

To help us search
Where did Jane marry?
Were her parents named?
Was her age given?

Do you know where in the family she came? i.e. would Mary and Ellen be older or younger?

If there is anything you know as already suggested about their children; where they were born or if they are shown on census or other records.
