All born Liverpool except his wife who was b Whitehaven

Wrong one - born 1856 but wife Sarah.

You didn't give any birthplace for James - presume he is the one b Bardsley 1857?

I'm looking at the census on FamilySearch. It says he was born in Lancs and his wife was born in Staffs.  :)
