Andover street map 1700s-early 1800s showing Brick-kiln Street
« on: Sunday 07 February 16 14:24 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know if there is a street map of Andover that shows Brickiln Street marked ?  This street later became named Winchester Street and ran south from junction of the High St. and London Rd.

I have the pamphlet "Short History of Andover" J.E.H. Spaul, Andover Local Archives Committee, 1976 that does have a recreated 1850 street layout of Andover showing the street with  "Brickkiln" as name but am looking for an actual map from the latter 1700s period.

I've just found an advert from the "Salisbury and Winchester Journal" from 1765 listing some houses for sale in the street, one of the tenants listed is I believe my 6x great grandfather Richard Norris so would be great to have a contemporaneous map.  The 1784 "Hampshire Directory" lists Richard's son, also Richard, as a carpenter and his nephew Thomas Norris as a shopkeeper (in Chantry Street, from his will).

thanks for any help or pointers

Thanks bearkat but really hoping for a proper street map.  The first one on that link does confirm name of the street had changed by 1835 though.  Clearest map of the period I've yet found is coloured version of  Isaac Taylor's map of 1759 where can at least seen the built up streets but obviously they are not named.
