Welsh in Patagonia from Abergele
« on: Sunday 07 February 16 19:39 GMT (UK) »
In the Anglian baptisms I have found William Jones Father mother Margaret Jones having their son Robert John Jones baptised in 1893
The information states that they were formally from 11 pool street ( miss spelling of peel street Abergele.
I am trying to tie my great aunt Margaret Davies born 1885 to the above as she and her family lived 11 Peel Street
How can I go forward with this information. Should I be looking for a marriage between William Jones and Margaret ? Before they went to Patagonia.
Margaret Davies has been missing from my family tree and I'm wondering now if she had family to go to in the Trelew Valley Patagonia when she left Abergele
Any advice  on moving forward or in this case backwards would be much appreciated
Thank you

is there a Civil  Birth Registration  you could check for 1893.
A birth certificate should give mothers maiden name.

I can see  "Magie" b Abergele with family in 1891, but not in 1901.
Could she have died ? Is she working away from home ?

Hi thanks for reply so I need to find a birth certificate if possible for the baptism in Patagonia in 1893 for Robert.
I think i Have Margaret in 1901 working as a servant to a women with the surname owen at the market vaults, Margaret appears again I think in the 1911 census working for a butchers. Her age is given as approximately born 1886 she was born November 1885 and in both census it states she is from Abergele,  but of course I can't be sure because she's not with the family.  She is known to have gone to Patagonia so her nephew wrote and told my mother a few years ago   I have no married name for Margaret Davies that's why I'm trying now to see if there is some relation between her and the family in Patagonia who once lived in Peel Street.  I expect I need a Patagonian family history person who could maybe work from that end   I think tonight I will try and find a marriage between  William Jones and Margaret Jones hopefully they will have emigrated to Patagonia but married in Abergele
I should give up looking for her but I doubt I can.

Have you worked back from Margaret Davies to find a link.
 Father Daniel Davies, mother Emma.
1891 22 Peel St.

North Wales Marriage indexes for the years: 1884
DAVIES Daniel  /  JONES Emma St Asaph, Civil Marriage Denbighshire North (Rhyl)

1881 Abergele Dist 9 schedule 174. 172 is Peel St.
1 Mount.
 Peter Jones  48
 Mary Jones  47
 Emma Jones  14 *
 Margaret Jones  12
 Mary E. Jones  10
 Sarah Jones  4

I know you are looking for a William Jones,  but there is a little bit of a connection with Peel St, perhaps this Jones family were linked to William, brother / uncle.
It is difficult as you don`t know how old William and Margaret Jones were.

It may be worth trying the Other Countries board for Patagonia BMDs.

Hello  Wilcoxon,
I have the 1871 census where William Jones married to Jane Jones there are now living in St George,Margret Jones is not there she would have been  22 so possible married or working someone else.

Possible my Margret Davies is named after Margaret Jones who would have been Emma Jones sister Emma being Margaret Davies Mother..
Also I Guess the Margaret Jones in the 1861 census maybe could have married a Jones and gone to Patagonia ?

Shaun I'm confused ( I am easily confused) the reason I'm looking at peel street is to tie Margaret Davies of Abergele  to William and Margaret Jones in Patagonia   Who once lived in Peel street.
Are the people you mentioned related the Davies or just that they lived in peel Street?

Oops I'm getting in a muddle sorry my 1871 census shows my Margaret's Davies mother Emma aged 6, her surname is Jones.
I really need to tie William Jones who is Patagonia in 1893 to Peel street going back or a marriage between William Jones and Margaret ?

Thanks
