Does her birth certificate say that she was born at sea? Also, does it list her parents' names? My relationship with Catherine is that she's my first cousin, twice removed. Her mother, Dora, was one of my great-grandfather Isaac Mick's sisters.

Catherines Birth Certifcate reads...

This is to certify that Dorothy Mick , wife of Thomas Hawthorn(Farmer) was delivered of a female child on board of the ss St Geroge on the 6th July
1867 in Lat 52. (something i cant make out) Lomg 36.2 N and that the child was baptised according to the ritual of the church of England on 8th July 1867 in Lat 54.  Long 22.3 N and named Catherine St George. 

signed by someone Forbes and a HH Smith RNR who was the master of SS St George
