Robert Littledike/Littledyke/Dennison
« on: Tuesday 09 February 16 11:09 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out more about this person who had a business Robert Littledyke & Son at one time in North Street, Stamford but by 1872 was at 27, Scotgate, Stamford. On various census he appears with his family under the different names and when he died in 1883 the Probate Calendar shows Littledyke otherwise Dennison. The story goes that at some point he was declared insolvent but I have no proof of that. Can anybody throw any light on this please or tell me more about sources for business information?

No, thanks for your efforts. For some time I had thought that Dennison and Littledike were two separate people. Until I found the entry on the National Probate calendar and got his death certificate, he hanged himself, and found he was also under both names. I also found under Littledike that he was insolvent in 1861, had some notariaty reported on in the local paper and had his wife Abigail fined for assault due to his philandering. I was after the history of the business to add to my background knowledge.
