Mary Elizabeth Fradsham 1851 and on
« on: Tuesday 09 February 16 19:13 GMT (UK) »
Enderby, 1841 -- John Fradsham age 70; his wife Mary, age 65; son John Fradsham age 25; and a mystery 6 year old, Elizabeth Fradsham.

I have just found a baptism for Mary Elizabeth Fradsham in Enderby in 1841; illegitimate daughter of Jane Fradsham. I suspect this will be the Elizabeth in the 1841 census as Jane Fradsham was John's daughter; and in 1841, Jane was living in Leicester with another illegitimate daughter, Clara/Clarissa, whose birth is on freeBMD as Dec 1840 (but whose age in the 1841 census was 2). So if Clara was born in late 1840, obviously Mary Elizabeth couldn't have been born early 1841; so I'm guessing that she was sent back to Enderby to her grandparents when the new baby arrived, and the grandparents got her baptised.

The grandparents died in the 1840s. I can't find Mary/Elizabeth,  1851. Jane and Clara are in 1861 as Hustleby, with Jane's partner Daniel Hustleby. Ancestry has them as Stastbby  ::)  in 1851, with Clara in the same house as Yrodsham but no sign of Mary/Elizabeth.

Can anyone spot Mary/Elizabeth at any other time?

A masterpiece of transcription for the 1851 entry but the image is dreadful so no criticism of the transcriber

That seems likely to be her; her mother and mother's partner are in Welford Rd but obviously this death is too early for Welford Rd.

I've now found a death notice for Elizabeth Fradshaw in the Leic Mercury; that gives her age as 9.

Thanks for the help.
