PARKER Matthew Rothley area
« on: Thursday 11 February 16 10:56 GMT (UK) »
I am just starting to pursue my Parker line.  They probably lived around the Melton Mowbray area.

I have found the will of Matthew Parker, yeoman of Rothley, dated 1761, which confirms some of his children as William Mary Jonas and Daniel.  I am descended from Jonas via his daughter Mary who married John Besson, I think.

Would it be possible to check the Rothley baptisms to see if Matthew was baptised there, probably about 1692?  There is a marriage of a Matthew Parker at Barrow on Soar in 1711 to an Ann Adcock which looks a possiblity

I also found a baptism of an Elias to Matthew and Elizabeth.  The other children have an Ann as their mother or none mentioned.  Ann was his wife at M's death.

Thank you.

Hi Vixen60,
There is an entry in Rothley Pr as follows

Matthew Parker parents William & Susanna

for 1692 there is a Nathan Parker c 22 May 1692 father William a blacksmith.
There is only this one that may be of interest to you?

Thank you, Bunnygirl.  They seem to be the right sort of names.  Matthew called his eldest son William so that looks likely, although I haven't found any Susannas yet, but one of his daughters was Hannah

I wonder if Susanna died and William was married again to the Hannah who produced Jonah.
