The collective noun for butchers is a goring...which is what this family has done to me since I began the search for John Arliss, butcher in 2008....a mere 9 years ago.
Findmypast just solved it I believe....John Arliss bap Louth, 1790, son of Matthew Arliss (butcher) and Sarah Harrison who married 1777 in Louth.
Matthew, George and William...all butchers...were the sons of Thomas Arlis and Anne Coupland...now, if only I could find the earlier generation.
