Richard Anderson baptism
« on: Monday 15 February 16 13:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone could do a baptism look up for my ancestor, Richard Anderson born about 1793 in Derby according to the census. I can find nothing. He was a millwright and lived on Eagle Street. His daughter, Elizabeth I can't find a baptism for either. I'd love to find who her mother was. She was born 1826 and her brother Henry was born 1829. Thanks.

According to the 1841 census his wife was called Margaret

His first wife possibly died between 1841 and 1851 as in the 1851 census he seems to be married to Ann.

 HO107; Piece: 2143; Folio: 282; Page: 27
Derby St Peter

Richard Anderson               56
Ann Anderson           wife        44
Frederick Sunibell    son       17

Possible marriage:

Marriages Sep 1848
ANDERSON    Richard
Derby    19   498

on the same page

SWINDELL    Ann

(I think the Frederick Sunibell on the 1851 should be Frederick Swindell )

This certificate would give you Richard's father's name.

So if that's correct Margaret isn't Elizabeth or Henry's mother.

Hi again, the 1848 marriage was a Registrar's marriage at Brook Street Baptist Meeting House to Ann Swindell

Hi,
Thanks for all your help. Margaret Davis was Elizabeth's step mother...her children are listed as Davis on the 1841 census and appear on Elizabeth's marriage certificate as a witness.
So Richard was a widower when he married Margaret...so presumably the wife before was Elizabeth's mother BUT on Ancestry there is a marriage in Oct 1832 to Hannah, a marriage in Nov 1832 to Catherine but they are still after Elizabeth and Henry were born!
There is an Oliver Richard Anderson who married Mary in 1815...he was a FWK. Maybe that's him?
Also there is a possible son...Richard Anderson aged 19 got married in 1840 in Derby and his father was Richard. Again I can't find his baptism.
I hadn't realised I could apply for Richard's marriage certificate to Ann so thank you for that, like you say I would get his father's name.

Still looking for a Richard Anderson marriage prior to Margaret,  but Ann Swindell/Swindel looks to be either with in-laws or single in 1841:-
