David Mckeddie/ Mckiddie 1832
« on: Tuesday 16 February 16 20:41 GMT (UK) »
Am I missing correct link?
I have DAVID Mckeddie b (28 Dec )1832 m Barbara Bowers ( marriage cert says David comes from Fortrose)  on 28 Jan 1859. They then go to Canada where David changes name to  Mckiddie.
On Ancestry the trees there have the David born 22 August 1832 and coming from Glamis.
I cannot see connection as 'my' David was from Fortrose .
Anyone like to point out the errors of my ways.

Thank you

Who were his parents on the marriage cert and how does that info compare to the 2 birth entries

David has changed the family name to Mckiddie from Mckeddie but his parents have correct first names -- David and Sophie McKenzie and Same trade of shoemaker- to fit with my tree. In previous ancestry cert place of origin of David was Fortrose..... Same.

Am I on firm ground to go with my David and not the David from Glamis born 2 months  previously as the other trees have done?

Thanks for unbiased guidance.

David had a brother George who was a witness. My David had a brother George who lived in Banff and could have come to Elgin for marriage.
My David 's mother 's full name is the same as is his father's names except changed to Mckiddie on marriage cert.
Certain as I am going to get.
Thanks

According to Familysearch the David born in Glamis had parents George McKeddie and Ann Grant. Can't see a birth for your David but in the 1841 census ( freecen) David McKiddie and Sophia are living in Fortrose with a number of children including a Dav(id) age 8. If your marriage certificate says that parents are David and Sophia and that he was from Fortrose then this looks like your family. In 1851 census on Ancestry the family show as McKeddie ( though David jnr is not listed among the children and I can't find him anywhere else on the census either).

Yep! David and Sophie it is and from Fortrose. Wonder why changed to Mckiddie whilst living in Moray........
Problem is ... For others, not me ..........they have the wrong David on their trees.

Thanks for keeping observations relevant.
