Cant see them using two different churches in same time period but am open to correction.

Me neither and as the occupations are different, I'd only got it down as a remote possibility.

As the priest in St Michans say's in 1859 parents resident in Scotland can you not find them on 1861 Scottish census to see if Alice is included with an age.

The family are back in Dublin by July 1859.  I fairly sure I have Robert Brown (without the 'e') in Kilmarnock in the 1841 Scotland Census- he's an apprentice book binder and father is a carpet hand loom weaver- both of which fit the bill. Alice does not appear as a grand child resident with this family in the 1861 Census.

One more thing have you the actual marriage cert for John Shannon and Alice Brown should list their fathers occupation's.

We have- carpenter (Shannon) and book-binder (Browne) which is how we picked up on the Scottish Brown in the census. With Shannon being such a common name, we've no chance of finding the correct line prior to 1820 as we don't know the place of origin- we were hoping on a very slim off-chance that the people in the photos may have been recognised and be able to go on from there.

Many thanks for that. None of the websites I had access to had addresses with which I could confirm I'd got the right Dublin deaths. Brilliant.
