Reginald Thomas DeBurgh Egan was my grandfather on my fathers side.
Born, 7th October 1899 in Mathina, Tasmania. His birth was not officially recorded at that time. I share the same birth day as Pop. He married Ellen "Nelle" Anne Hardy, born 3rd May 1899 from Echuca, Victoria. They had two sons. He moved to Victoria in approximately 1916.
Uncle Joseph Francis  Egan (died 1986). Not sure he had the DeBurgh name.
My father is Reginald Clarence DeBurgh Egan, born 24th April 1927. Dad died 14th April 2014, aged 86.
I am John James DeBurgh Egan. The "DeBurgh" is a family name and was given to the males in each generation and "apparently" was a form of nobility....haha. . My son is Tomas Anthony DeBurgh Egan. The name will hopefully continue. hope this helps.

I am trying to find out about that DE Burgh name in the Egan family with is thought  to be  related to nobility??.
So far have been unable to find any Egan's with that middle name other than those mentioned in above message.
Have been looking on the female lines but so far no luck.
A small possibility is on the side of Mary, Ellen Ward b. abt 1864 Tasmania, who married Joseph, Francis Egan in 1884 Fingal, Tasmania, nothing is know about her family can any one help?
I have sent John Egan a personal message but not answering...

Nugent, I think John will need to make a couple more posts before the PM system will work.

Joseph Francis Egan of Fingal Tasmania was my Great Grandfather.
Reginald Thomas was his youngest son. Five Egan boys, Winfred, Ted, Cyril, Eric & Reg.
I will ask a couple of older relatives more about DeBurgh but not many oldies left.
