Kimbolton....
banns 20.12.1830,william of tilbrook beds, =jane abram, with consent of john/elizabeth craddock.

As per Beds FHS Surname index .. Craddocks at Tilbrook

1800 John - marriage
1801 William - baptism
1804 Elizabeth - baptism & burial
1806 John - baptism
1810 Elizabeth - baptism

Won't know the detail until you check Tilbrook PR transcript

Tilbrook marriage
8 Dec 1800 John Craddock to Elizabeth Rootham,
witnesses Thomas James & John Pashler (clerk)
Is it their son William baptised 6 Dec 1801 who married Jane Abram in 1830, don't know why he needed consent, he'd be 29, maybe wife Jane was not yet age 21

John Craddock also was a witness to another Tillbrook marriage
27 Sep 1802 Charles Cope of Kimbolton to Mary Rootham

Seems Elizabeth 1783 & Mary 1780 were sisters, daughters of Thomas & Mary Rootham

What about John Craddock, yeoman of Glendon, Northants age 21+ who married Susannah George of Roxton age 21+, at Roxton on 19 Aug 1794 by licence, surety given by Peasor George, wheelwright of Roxton

Note the Roxton marriage just names her Susan George, it is only in the licence trancript that she's Susannah. She was baptised as Susan on 3 Feb 1769 at Roxton daughter of Simon & Ann George, who also had son Pearson 5 Oct 1770, who gave surety on the marriage licence.

John from Northamptonshire must have travelled far and wide to find the woman of his dreams.

Or perhaps he met the lady who was working in Northants and they returned to her home parish to marry

Note the Roxton marriage just names her Susan George, it is only in the licence trancript that she's Susannah.

Did you take the marriage from the microfiche of the PR John, or from the transcript? The transcript usually abbreviates the name to Susan, whether the PR shows it as Susan, Susanna or Susannah

David, The marriage (& baptism) came from the transcript .... & as you say; as listed in 'Abbreviations Used' at the start of PR volume 5 (that includes Roxton), Susan is short for Susannah..... that being said other transcripts I have, list Sus for Susan & Susna for Susanna(h).

Haha yes then you wouldn't! I have meanwhile become quite knowledgeable of the whereabouts of Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire towns, but Roxton I hadn't come across yet. I live across the pond, you see, in the Netherlands :-)

Are any of you reading here able to figure out who the parents were of Richard Craddock who marries Mary Chapman in Kimbolton in 1819? I'd assume he was born in about the first half of the 1790s, given the year of marriage. If I can figure out who his parents were that might help me tie up a few things. Thanks!

This was looked into over 10 years ago..... wonder if the poster here has resolved it...

It's interesting that it's a Craddock marrying a Chapman.... same as the 1791 Harrold marriage
