Newspapers report of the dead of W.W.1
« on: Wednesday 24 February 16 20:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi Folks,
I've tried to find  newspaper report of my G.G Father Patrick James Lennon 2nd Batt Royal Irish Rifles, died 24th April 1916 buried in France.
He enlisted in Cavan around mid 1915, I've checked Donegal and Derry Papers with out success, so my thoughts are it may have been printed in Cavan papers?
any help appreciated.
thanks

Most likely to have been reported where he was from or living before enlistment. Sometimes there is no death notice, sometimes one appears well after death if soldier first reported as missing and other times its in the notes section of local paper- either area notes or section about those serving.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
