Trying to find Abbeycwmhir in the 1939 register without much success. Is the registration district Rhayader does anyone know?

It should be the same district as the 1911 census.

try Abbey Cwmbir in Rhayader

Rhayader to 1933 - Radnorshire West I believe after 1933 ...

I m pretty sure its Rhayder or Radnorshire West but unfortunately the search facility for the 1939 register  isn't playing ball!

I did try, also as three words as it is occasionally written Abbey cwm hir but it is normally all one word. I know the area quite well and names of farms etc and possible surnames of the time but its not working ??? Could it be in Knighton R D perhaps.

The 1939 Register isn't based on Registration Districts!

It's based on the Borough and District Councils that existed in 1939.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

but if the area is rural and you're looking for a house that only has a name not a street attached to it, you won't find it without a family name.

The indexing of rural areas can be pretty poor
