Henry Wilson b 1830 Sutton on Trent
« on: Monday 29 February 16 15:42 GMT (UK) »
I just wondered if someone  could find Henry any earlier than 1871 please. On this census he is living with wife Sarah b 1828 Normanby, son William Hy b 1868 Gainsborough and sister Elizabeth b 1845 Sutton on Trent. They were living on Bridge Street, Gainsborough and Henry was a pork butcher.

Many thanks
Jenny

There is a Henry Wilson born 1830 Sutton on Trent lodging with the Haywood family in 1851 in Harby, Melton Mowbray. At the moment the image wont open so I can't see his occupation.

Is that the same one I found, lodging with the Haywoods? Looks a good match considering where his future wife was.

1851 Census - Sutton on Trent - ref.HO107 - 2135 - 274 - 26

William Wilson    48    Joiner         born Marsham, Notts.
Elizabeth Wilson  51                     born Sutton on Trent
Richard Wilson 13                           ditto
Elizabeth Wilson 9                           ditto
+ 2 lodgers

Matches details of family already given for 1841 although suggests Elizabeth a bit older than she admits to in 1871.

Thank you so much to everyone who replied. The information found about Henry in 1851 being a boatman ties in with his occupation in 1901. He was a captain of a steam tug.

I had found the marriage for Henry and Sarah Horton so that ties in with her being in the same location in 1851.

Thanks again

Jenny  :D

Odd that he switched from boatman in 1851, to pork butcher in 1871 and then back to captain of a steam tug in 1901.  ;D
