Thank you for your interest and help with this. I have been going round in circles for a few years, and keep coming back. Yes Keyboard has found some useful bits and I am about to follow them up more closely. I did wonder about Adeth Ambler, 1781, but all the censuses point towards 1783, and her death age would be even bigger if the earlier date was correct - but I am not cancelling anything out. Edith could have been married twice before - in which case she may not be an Ambler at all - not sure I can cope with that one! I would really like to find a death for Joseph.
It took me a couple of years and a spot of luck to link this lady to my tree in the first place, so I am not giving up that easily!
