Annie, have you got the marriage that Isobel mentions for Gordon and Isabella?

From others' research, this looks to be Gordon with a Kennedy family in 1891:

John Kennedy 42 woodturner b. Ecclefechan Dumfriesshire
Ann Kennedy 48 b. Arbroath
Kate Kennedy 19 b. Arbroath
Jane W Kennedy 12 b. Arbroath
Gordon M Keillor 4 adopted b. St Vigeans, Forfarshire

Address 43 Helen St, Arbroath Angus

Gordon is still with the Kennedys in 1901 living at 28 Marketgate, Arbroath. He is showing as a Kennedy age 4 (ever young thanks to transcriptions  ::)).

His parents are given as:

Thomas Foggerty Keillor 1856–1888
Birth 29 AUG 1856 in Mains of Ethie Inverkeillor Nr Arbroath Angus Scotland
Death 12 OCT 1888 at 1 Union St Arbroath Angus

Thomas died as a result of an accident. RCE for the death reg. He died from a fracture of the scull and lacerations of the brain following an accident (mining related?).

Margaret Hemsworth 1855–1889
Birth 27 FEB 1855 at 35 High Street Arbroath Angus
Death 18 NOV 1889 at 11 Dashland Street, St. Vigeans

See also www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=44077496&ref=acom  The list of the children seems to have left off some children, including Gordon.

Their dates of deaths likely explain why Gordon M Keillor is showing as adopted in the Kennedy household in 1891.

Thomas and Margaret married on 17 OCT 1874 in Arbroath. Family's 1881 entry here:

Thomas Keillor 24 Agrl Labr (Farm Servant) b. Inverkeillor, Forfarshire (in coal mining I think by his death in 1888)
Margaret Keillor 26 b. Arbroath
Thomas Keillor 6 Arbroath
Robert Keillor 4 Arbroath
Mary A Keillor 2 b. St Vigeans
Henary Keillor 4 Months b. St Vigeans

Address: Demondale, St Vigeans

Apart from Gordon b. 15 AUG 1886 at West Seaton St Vigeans Nr Arbroath Angus, there was also Isabella Tulloch Keillor (1888 - 1966).

Gordon is showing as having children from 1905 (Isabella, they were unmarried, or another woman?). The first was called John Kennedy Keillor, after his adopted father it seems. At least 5 children born between 1904-1914, before the marriage date to Isabella of 1915. Buckhaven features strongly in this family's history.

Gordon's death in 21 JAN 1964 in Buckhaven. Just as a side note, Gordon had a second (?) marriage in 1957 in Buckhaven.

There is one entry for a Gordon Keillor in the 1925 in Angus and 1930 valuation rolls (as mentioned by whiteout7 above).

Three of the first born children (1905 - 1910) show as born in Angus, under the surname of Keillor.  The fourth was born 5 July 1913 at 27 Kilbowie Road, Clydebank, also under the surname of Keillor. You would expect Robert to show too under the surname of Keillor born c. 1914?

I can only see one Robert K*l*r birth between 1911-16 anywhere in Scotland and this was in 1913 where a Robert Keillor birth is registered in Old or West Kilpatrick Dunbartonshire.....a twin to Georgina! Both births have the GROS refs of 501/00 0936 and 501/00 0937. Annie, haven't viewed that Robert's birth image but seems very likely. He is also the only Robert Keillor born then...
