I found the following Treacy’s from the area in the Tithe Applotments:
Michael Treacy, Ballydavid, Twomileborris, Tipperary
Martin Tracy, Burris, Twomileborris, Tipperary
Patrick Tracy Grague, Moycarky, Tipperary 1829
Thomas Tracy, Forgestown, Moycarky, Tipperay, 1829
The bottom two are also listed as 1831 Tithe Defaulters
Patrick Tracy, Farmer, Grague, Moycarkey, Co. Tipperary.
Thomas Tracy, Farmer, Fugertown, Moycarkey, Co. Tipperary.
Does anyone know where Grague or Forgestown/Fugertown are located?
On the Traceys of Tipperary website, I found this:
Protestants of Moycarkey – Borris (Who signed a memorial to the House of Commons in favour of Catholic Emancipation)
Roger Treacy, Littleton
Wm. Treacy, Littleton
My family is Roman Catholic, but who knows if some of them were not in the past?
I tried RootsIreland.ie, I found a Baptism for a Michael Treacy from Moycarkey on 09Oct1802. His parents were John Treacy & Margaret Keogh.
I also found a Church Baptism for a Mary Treacy also from Moycarkey on 27Nov1804. Her parents were James Treacy & Catherine Burke.
In addition I found a Church Baptism for a James Treacy from Moycarkey on25Jul1807. His parents were John Treacy & Nancy Burke.
I also found a Church Marriage for a Michael Treacy & Nancy Ryan in Moycarkey on 12 Apr1841 and another Church Marriage for a Mary Treacy from Borris to a Patrick Brein in Moycarkey on 08Feb1810.
If my Treacy Family came from that area these people could be relatives. They match the area and general time frame that I believe my Family might have lived there.
None of this is proof. I am hoping to come across someone who had Treacy relatives from that area in the early 1800's or so.
I actually was able to get in touch by phone with 2 different Treacy Families living in the area. Neither family knew anything about their old relatives from the early 1800's. It was worth trying, but was not successful.
Hopefully I will come in contact with someone who knows something about these Treacy Families from the early 1800’s.
