What happened to David Lloyd and his Family
« on: Saturday 05 March 16 12:46 GMT (UK) »
Several years ago I was given help thru this site to find out about my ggrandfather Alphonso Adolphe Lloyd who was born in Alsace France in 1833.His father arrived in Alsace in 1826 when he married a French woman,Caroline Elizabeth Jaeglin. He was employed as an engineer on the locamotives. There were 3 other children born in 1827,1829 and 1835 in France. In 1839,David completed his work and then took his family to Switzerland(Zurich) where I believe another child was born.I have not been able to find out any info on the family accept for Alphonso, who sailed to Australia in 1855 to work in the gold fields...Could someone please help me find out what happened  the rest of the Lloyd family.

Hi
There's a death overseas for a David LLoyd
Bayonne France 1876-1880 6 633 which might be the father.
His marriage at Paris is supposed to be on the Genelogist site so perhaps that will give some more information where he came from.

Thank u cider drinker  that was a very quick reply.....I know that David was born in1797 in Montgomershire and ventured to France in 1826.I was assuming that after Switzerland they would have gone back to Wales but after your info maybe not..I have had trouble trying to trace the French side  of David's wife Caroline .I only know that she was born in 1802. Thanks again ...Skl

From the other thread, we know a bit more:
The kids were born in Munster and Bitschwiller-les-Thann (records for the family can be seen at  )
There was a possible brother for Caroline, Jean Martin Jacqlin/Jaeglin, aged 31 in 1829 who appears as witness on the births of the first two children.

This is, I think, Caroline's birth in Munster:Services_Actes_Civils.aspx

Seems to be spelt Jägle here? Father Johann Martin, mother hard to read

Possibly this is the same family:

 - this one shows brother died 1849 in Breitenbach

Thank  you jorose for that information...You may be right about  Martin being Carolines brother as I looked up that family tree on the genes net site and there was also a Edighoffen in he family.....On Carolines and Davids marriage are there is a  witnesses with the same name as well as Martin Jaeglin....It is very difficult to read Carolines birth (Most frustrating)May I also ask ..How do I access the childrens birth as you mentioned....And one more question...How would I find out if there was another child born in Switzerland in 1839.Thank you again for your time and effort..SKL

Hi

I think you can find the births of the children on the same archives website as the birth of their mother.

Commune = Municipality, selectionner = choose the place,
Naissances = Births, Rechercher = Search

http://www.archives.haut-rhin.fr/Services_Actes_Civils.aspx

Birth or baptism records of Zurich City or other places in the Canton Zurich are held in the States Archives of Zurich:

Schwmae SKL!!

Finally I have got through!?

Ok so as I am very interested in your relative David Lloyd, have you managed, apart from Graces Guide to compile a short biography of him and his family

I cannot find anything about him in Zurich for example so I hope you were able to search further. Can you give me his movements and then your family line to you; fasinating

I am putting together artwork and a book on Welsh achievers so your ggg granfather will be included

Anyway I hope all is well and see you soon
