Interestingly buried in the Portsea churchyard was a William WARREN.

Perhaps it was just as simple as noticing a gravestone... and making the decision there and then? (Stranger things have happened).

His siblings seem to have followed suit... and also changed to Warren. Have you read the full Newspaper Article btw?
