did you note there is only one Thomas Baggott in 1901 and also in 1911
both live in Kilcooley
In 1901 Thomas looks as if he's struggling to sign his name and it looks like the constable filled out the form for him, in 1911 he signs with his mark x
his age is way off in 1911
1901

1911

house numbers are enumerators numbers not actual address

his neighbour in 1901 is Luke Coen

as he is in 1911

Thank you for finding the 1911, the age is off, that's why I could not locate.  I think I need to obtain the marriage cert to confirm if his father is pat, he married Mary Hurley from the children's bapts.

Thank you so much again for your time and interest :)

That is a very good possible, thank you again for your time and interest.  It may very well be him.. I feel a bit sorry for him all alone and quite elderly, don't think he had any contact with his children after they left.

Seems it was only possibly my gg grandmother who outlived him, and she was in lancs.  If he was unable to write he may never have known.

I have those thanks, they had 4 in all John, Bridget, Patrick and Mary.

Need to get their marriage cert sorted to find out if pat was his father.

You can see the date he applied...1921, when aged 70,  so what's there is him from what was on 1851 Census check  (return)

Yes, I thought he was the correct ancestor too.

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01h7q/  is McCarthys from Cork who applied!

By Cork I mean the address they said they lived at in 1841 or 51 so Census can be checked!

That's a really interesting link Hallmark, but as I was glued to my computer all night until 5.00 a.m. this morning I'll just bookmark it for now.

Last night I was attacking the McCarthy line from a different angle hoping for a bit of daylight.  I'm following a Daniel born 1839 in Cardiff, Wales. His parents and older siblings were born in Ireland. The whole family have such common names that there's a big question mark raised whenever I find anything. The added problem is that mother Mary had a short life and the family seem to have moved from Cardiff, so of the many Mary McC which one is she and where did she die.   Additionally, Daniel seems to have moved out of the family home as a child    Last night I thought I'd see what I could come up with on mother Mary's ancestral line by using the names of her 2nd son Daniel and oldest daughter Emma.  I'd already got a list of possible Mary/Patrick marriages which gave the brides surnames/parentage and I thought maybe I could compare names on the Pension list with names on my marriage list.  Currently the maiden surname "Power" heads the list.
